DANCER STYLES - Founder, Director, Coach
Dancer Styles is an accomplished beach volleyball player and coach. He has been involved with the development of the beach program for several years and is thrilled that it will be recognized as a NCAA sport in the spring of 2016.
In his sophomore year of high school, he became one of only three players in the history of the game to win an AAA tournament at 16 years of age. At the age of 17, he became the youngest player in A.V.P history to qualify for the main draw in Manhattan Beach, California.
He went on to play on and off the A.V.P. tour from 1994-2002. He continues to play to this day with over 40 AAA and Open wins to his credit.
In 2011, Dancer returned to coaching and began consulting for several youth organizations and high schools. In 2013, he became the assistant coach for the Branson School girl’s varisty squad. The team has been the CIF State Runner-Up in 2013 and 2014. In 2013, he founded Golden Gate Volleyball, a beach club based in Sausailto, California. He has helped hundreds of girls develop their skills and his club has been recognized as one of the premier Northern California beach programs. His players have gone on to commit to some of the premier beach programs in the country, including Stetson University, University of Arizona, and Tulane University.
In addition, Dancer continues to consult with indoor clubs and high schools throughout the Bay Area to develop their beach programs and recruiting programs.
He currently is on the varsity coaching staff at statewide and Marin power Branson HS. Dancer has taught private volleyball for many years in Marin.
